Bookkeeping Accounting Service

What is Bookkeeping?

Bookkeeping is the recording of financial transactions of a business, which is usually carried out by a bookkeeper using accounts software such as Sage, Quickbooks or Xero.

Does my business need a Bookkeeper?

Often enough a business will use internal staff to perform the role of a bookkeeper, as a means of saving money or not having to hire externally. This results in employees having to juggle workload between the running of the business and managing of the company accounts.

There are several duties that a bookkeeper must keep up to date. This includes managing: financial statements, cash forecasts, weekly and monthly budget reports, and business performance. As well as an ongoing list of tasks, a bookkeeper will also deal directly with customers, suppliers, employees, the employer, online bankers, the HMRC and many more.

By employing a bookkeeper your business and its employees are able to focus their attention on their allocated job roles, leaving the stress of managing your account books in the hands of an expert bookkeeper.

What is the difference between a Bookkeeper and an Accountant?

We often get asked what the difference is between bookkeeping and accounting, although there are similarities with both job roles, there are equally a range of differences.

It’s important to have both included in your businesses structure, as they’re needed to handle different areas of your business.

A bookkeeper will assist you with managing your financial records, dealing with different people associated with your business and making sure that everything in regards to your books are managed and updated accurately.

An accountant will focus on analysing the information and data your bookkeeper provides. This will include reports based on weekly/monthly results, followed by financial advice and assistance with taxation requirements.

At H&H Accountants we can help you with your bookkeeping and provide expert accounting advice.
